RTP Plugins

RTP Plugins

Overview

Plugin recommendation

We currently recommend WildRTP because BetterRTP hasn't worked well on Minecraft 26.2 and newer in our testing, so we consider it deprecated.

The BetterRTP instructions below are available for existing servers running compatible versions.

Random teleportation plugins let your players use /rtp to find somewhere new to explore or build. We'll go over installing a plugin, giving players access, and adjusting the teleport area and cooldown.

Installation and setup

Choose your plugin below to follow its setup instructions.

Install WildRTP

First, download a stable WildRTP release compatible with your Minecraft version and server platform.

  1. Open your server's Console in the Bloom panel and click Stop.
  2. Open the File Manager, then upload the .jar file to your server's plugins folder.
  3. Return to the Console and click Start. WildRTP will load and generate its configuration files.

If you need more help with installation, check our plugin installation guide.

Commands and permissions

Players can run /rtp or /wild to teleport to a random location. Use /wild help to view the available commands.

The wildrtp.rtp permission allows players to use random teleportation and is enabled by default. If you've restricted permissions, you can grant it to your default group through LuckPerms:

lp group default permission set wildrtp.rtp true

Run this command in your server console without a leading /.

Keep in mind that operators bypass cooldowns and teleport delays by default, so their experience may differ from a regular player's.

Configuration

Open plugins/WildRTP/config.yml in the File Manager. The settings most servers will want to adjust are:

  • Teleport area: global.min and global.max control the minimum and maximum distance from the teleport center, in blocks. For example, min: 100 and max: 1000 keep destinations between those distances. Check global.center to choose the center.
  • Cooldown and delay: global.cooldown.time controls how long players wait between uses. global.movetimer.time controls how long they must stand still before teleporting. Both use seconds and have an enabled setting.
  • Allowed worlds: Use list: whitelist and add your world names to whitelist if RTP should only work in specific worlds.

If you use a supported claim or region protection plugin, enable its integration under hooks so WildRTP can avoid protected areas. These integrations are disabled by default.

Once you've saved your changes, run /wild reload in-game. Changes to protection hooks require a server restart.

For per-world settings, teleport costs, and other options, check the WildRTP server owner guide.

Performance tips

Random teleportation can load or generate chunks far away from your players. On a busy server, this can cause noticeable lag.

  • Pregenerate your teleport area. Use Chunky to generate the destination area ahead of time.
  • Keep the range manageable. Choose an area that fits within your world border and, if you've pregenerated terrain, within that generated area.
  • Use a cooldown. Giving players a short wait between teleports helps limit repeated requests.

If the plugin struggles to find a destination, check your teleport area and restrictions first. Very restrictive biome, height, or protection settings can leave few suitable locations.
